A Pennsylvania truck manufacturing company is doing what they can to help out local mothers in the face of the baby formula shortage.

New Tamaqua Truck & Trailer in Tamaqua, Pennsylvania has been manufacturing “truck tough” steel and aluminum truck bodies since 1969. Now, the company is working for the community in a different way – by passing out any baby formula they can find for free to those in need.

The company recently donated 60 cans of formula to State Representative Jerry Knowles’ office, where mothers can pick it up free of charge.

“There’s time where I go, and they have only one can left. So I have to search around or do a substitute formula figuring out which would be best for his digestive system. I try not to give him as much, conserve it and give him more food, but that doesn’t always work,” explained Kayla Rothernel from Tamaqua.

“For her whole nine months of life, we had her on one formula. It was difficult at first because I was scared; I didn’t want her to go without it, I didn’t want to switch over,” Hayle, another resident, shared with WNEP News.

Representative Knowles says that he is grateful to the company for their help in such a dire situation.

“We are just delighted that we can be the conduit to give it to the people. They’re the ones who organized it and delivered the baby formula here,” Representative Knowles said.

“Without him, we wouldn’t have this extra can, and believe it or not, this can goes a long way,” says Hayle.
