A wreck that resulted in an SUV sandwiched between two semi trucks left one person dead and two others seriously injured in Indiana on Thursday afternoon.

The accident happened on April 4th in Lake County, Indiana on eastbound Interstate 80/94.

According to ABC 7 Chicago, a semi truck was traveling on the Columbia Avenue overpass between Calumet Avenue and Indianapolis Boulevard when it began to slow. A Kia SUV traveling behind the rig then began to slow down, but was soon rear ended by a second tractor trailer. The force of the impact pushed the SUV underneath the first tractor trailer

One person inside of the SUV died in the wreck. The driver of the SUV and one child passenger sustained potentially life-threatening injuries and were transported to a hospital.

All eastbound lanes of I-80/94 near Calumet Avenue were shut down until about 6 p.m. as officers investigated the crash. No information on the cause of the crash or subsequent charges have been released.
