New shipping facility prompts complaints, ‘No Truck’ signs along rural MO roads

A new shipping and distribution center is wreaking havoc for Missouri residents living along a once peaceful rural road, prompting the city to make moves against trucks and truck traffic.

Residents living along Farm Road 156 in Republic, Missouri say that the new facility has increased truck traffic in their neighborhood considerably, and the drivers are not being considerate of those who live there. In fact, a truck driver recently took out a power pole along the road, leaving residents without power.

“We are not designed for truck traffic,” said Debbie Bishop, a resident living along the roadway, to KY3 News

“I had a guy parked in my driveway to take a nap while he waited for his prime load,” she said.

“Last Thursday, a driver backed into the driveway, and when he left, he took this light pole with him and all of our electricity.”

“The city could easily fix this problem by adding a few signs at the intersection down there by the park and a left turn arrow for the trucks to get back around the block to Amazon,” added Donnie Bishop, who lives along the same road with Debbie.

Since those issues, the city has installed new “No Truck” signs along the roadway in hopes that the drivers will do just that – drive around the block and back to the shipping facility instead of hanging out in front of houses.
