Close to one thousand gallons of paint were spilled in Ohio on Tuesday morning after a flatbed hauling the paint was cut off by a motorist.

The accident happened on April 26th in Austintown, Ohio.

According to ABC 33 News, a trucker hauling paint on a flatbed braked suddenly when another vehicle turned in front of him, causing his load of paint to shift.

“There was a van going by at the time, van got sprayed with the paint and the rest of it ended up on the ground on the road,” said Austintown Fire Chief Andy Frost.

No one was hurt in the incident, but the truck driver was cited on charges of assured clear distance, and his company will be responsible for the costs involved in cleanups and repairs.

“They’ll be on the hook for the bill for it,” Frost said. “Our biggest thing was to contain it [the paint], and again, they put down booms and oil dry. We got the road departments out putting sand, so we built a dam,” Frost said.

Crews also scraped already-dried paint off the road, and employed a large vacuum truck to suck up the remaining lumps of paint. No further information has been
