The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is seeking information after equipment was destroyed at an Illinois pipeline site, causing hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of damage.

According to the FBI’s Springfield division, the equipment fire occurred around midnight April 21, 2022, at a pipeline repair site in Harvel, Illinois.

Authorities say that someone gained access to an excavator and used it to destroy a semi trailer and a sandblaster. The person then set fire to the sandblaster and a “semi tractor trailer,” resulting in several hundred thousand dollars worth of damage.

Vance and Associates, Inc. is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of a suspect in the arson case. Anyone with information is asked to call  the FBI Springfield office at springfield@fbi.gov or (217) 522-9675.
