Five years after debuting its electric big rig, Tesla has started accepting reservations for the Semi.

 

According to a May 16 report from Inside EVs, Tesla is now accepting online reservations for the Tesla Semi.

According to the company website, a credit card down payment of $5000 is due upon reservation. A second payment of $15,000 delivered through wire transfer is then due within 10 days. Tesla says that the initial $5000 down payment is fully refundable.

 

Prominent companies including Walmart, PepsiCo, and Anheuser-Busch have pre-ordered Tesla Semis.

Tesla did not provide information on when deliveries of the Tesla Semi might begin.

The total expected base price for a Tesla Semi with a 300 mile range is $150,000, according to the company website. The expected base price for a Tesla Semi with a 500 mile range is $180,000.

 

Tesla debuted the Semi in 2017 with big promises from Elon Musk that the vehicle can “transform into a robot, fight aliens and make one hell of a latte.”
