The Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) released results from this year’s Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) International Roadcheck inspection effort.

This year, Roadcheck took place Tuesday, May 17th, through Thursday, May 19th, throughout the U.S., Mexico, and Canada. Roadcheck is an annual high-visibility, high-volume commercial motor vehicle inspection and enforcement initiative.

In Arizona, AZDPS says that inspection efforts were concentrated at I-17 south of Flagstaff and I-40 west of Flagstaff, with officers from the AZDPS Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Task Force (CVETF) the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, and the Apache Junction Police Department participating.

“In total, 657 inspections were completed, and a total of 1,891 violations were discovered. Among the violations troopers observed was a driver using zip ties and a hitch ball pin to hold suspension components together on a flatbed trailer,” AZDPS reported.
