The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) says that a tunnel in Mobile has reopened following a Wednesday morning incident that left a truck’s trailer mangled.
According to ALDOT, the incident occurred around 6 a.m. on July 6 at the Bankhead Tunnel in downtown Mobile when the driver of a truck “ignored height warnings.”
The tunnel has a 12 foot clearance, according to WKRG.
In images shared by Mobile Fire-Rescue, you can see the trailer broken into two pieces at the west entrance to the tunnel.
No injuries were reported.
While the incident shut down the Bankhead Tunnel for hours, ALDOT confirmed all lanes have now reopened.
