The smoking aftermath of a crash between a semi truck and a van that left 27 people dead was caught on video by a witness.

In the video, the van and truck trailer can be seen charred and still burning while witnesses wander around the outskirts of the crash scene.

All of the crash victims are believed to be from the Mexican southern state of Veracruz, reported Daily Mail.  The van is believed to have crashed head-on with the tractor trailer, but the cause of the crash has not been determined.

It is still unclear whether the truck driver died in the wreck and his truck was collected by another, or if the driver simply fled the scene after the crash.
