Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) have identified the truck driver who was killed in a crash off of a Bucks County bridge on Saturday morning.

The single vehicle crash occurred around 1:30 a.m. on April 24 in Bristol Township, Pennsylvania.

PSP says that 49 year old Ohio-based truck driver Charles Edward Hopper, Jr. was eastbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike when his truck veered right and struck a guardrail as it approached a bridge. After damaging about 200 feet of guardrail, the truck hit a concrete barrier and crashed off the bridge, falling about 40 feet into a wooded area below.

Hopper’s truck was hauling two trailers, according to PSP. One fell with the truck while the other was caught up on the concrete barrier. Emergency crews were able to help Hopper out of the truck, but he passed away at the scene. Troopers say that no other vehicles are believed to have been involved in the fatal crash. The crash is under investigation.
