The Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP) says that a truck driver has been hospitalized following an accident in a construction zone on Friday morning.

The incident occurred around 11 a.m. in a construction zone on K-4 between Meriden and Valley Falls, Kansas.

Troopers say that a truck driver raised his bed to dump the contents of the trailer and struck a power line.

The truck caught fire soon after the power line strike.

The truck driver was reportedly able to escape the truck fire but was electrocuted.

Authorities have confirmed that the truck driver was transported to the hospital. The severity of his injuries is unknown at this time.
