CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — H-E-B truck driver Jesus Flores has reached an extraordinary milestone: 4 million safe miles logged over a 39-year career with the company. Flores, who began his driving career in 1992, was honored this week with cheers, praise, and a brand-new 2025 Volvo Tractor.

“Since he started, he hasn’t had a single incident,” said H-E-B Terminal Manager Robert Mieure. “He’s reliable, he’s dependable, and every time he rolls into the terminal, he shouts, ‘Let’s go!’” Flores becomes just the third driver in H-E-B history to reach this achievement, joining fellow elite drivers Andres Corona and Danny Guerrero Jr.

Flores began working at H-E-B in 1986, attended truck driving school in 1989, and hit the road full-time in 1992. He logged his first million miles by December 2000, with each subsequent million reached about every eight years — a testament to his consistency and dedication.

To celebrate his accomplishment, Flores asked for just two things: a "Spirit of H-E-B" trailer and a new truck. H-E-B delivered, gifting him a brand-new 2025 Volvo as a symbol of gratitude and admiration.

“You have to admire and respect Homer’s tremendous accomplishment,” said Todd Wright, H-E-B’s Senior Vice President of Transportation. “Day in and day out, he is hauling up to 80,000 pounds with a 53- or 57-foot trailer alongside other motorists. To do it safely traveling four million consecutive miles, without a single scrape or broken mirror, is a testament to his professionalism.”

Driving 4 million miles safely is no small feat — that’s the equivalent of circling the globe more than 160 times. Flores averaged more than 357 miles a day, every day, for decades. His achievement reflects not just his endurance, but also the deep pride and responsibility career truckers bring to the road.
