Texarkana, Texas police responded to a crash late Thursday night involving an 18-wheeler that left a trail of destruction and temporarily knocked out power to a significant portion of the city.

The incident occurred around 11:30 p.m. at the intersection of New Boston Road and Taylor Street, where the truck veered off the roadway, struck a major electrical transmission pole, and spilled a full load of lumber across the road. The crash resulted in a power outage affecting nearly a third of the city.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Fredrick Beal, was not injured, but police arrested him at the scene for Driving While Intoxicated (Open Container) and Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon. He was later booked into the Bi-State Jail.

As of Friday morning, New Boston Road remains closed while crews continue clearing the scene. Authorities are urging the public to avoid the area until further notice.
