A truck driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly assaulting a woman and evading law enforcement for three days in Michigan.

The incident began around 5:45 a.m. on June 7th in the 5000 block of Argyle Street, where police responded to a report of domestic assault involving a 42-year-old woman. The suspect, 55-year-old Ali Ahmed Zbib, fled the scene and entered a semi truck parked nearby.

Police located Zbib in the truck on the 14300 block of Michigan Avenue. When officers approached, Zbib reversed the truck, rammed a patrol car, and sped off before officers could engage him. Authorities initiated a pursuit but called it off due to the suspect’s dangerous and erratic driving.

For the next 48 hours, police tracked Zbib intermittently until he was arrested on June 9th after officers spotted his semi truck in Detroit.

Zbib is charged with:

  • Domestic violence

  • Third-degree fleeing and eluding

  • Malicious destruction of police property

He is scheduled to appear in court for a probable cause conference on June 18th. The nature of his relationship with the woman remains unclear, with some reports identifying her as his ex-partner and others as his wife.
