Truck Overturns, Spills Load of Loam on Route 128 Ramp in Lexington

A tractor-trailer overturned, spilling its load of loam onto the ramp connecting Bedford Street to Route 128/Interstate 95 north in Lexington, Massachusetts, Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025.
The accident happened at approximately 9:48 a.m., prompting Massachusetts State Police and Lexington Fire crews to respond quickly to the scene near mile marker 49. Aerial views showed the truck’s cargo scattered across the ramp and onto the grassy embankment behind the guardrail.
Several heavy-duty tow trucks arrived to remove the overturned vehicle and clear the spilled loam. Authorities kept the ramp closed for nearly four hours during cleanup operations, causing traffic delays in the area.
Officials have reported no immediate injuries resulting from the crash.
According to WCVB, the ramp was successfully reopened to traffic around 1:30 p.m. Investigators have not yet determined what caused the truck to overturn.
