A new report released by the National Transportation Research nonprofit, TRIP, claims that as many as 5% of Missouri highway bridges are in poor condition.

The report, titled  “Restoring Missouri’s Interstate Highway System: Meeting Missouri’s Transportation Needs with a Reliable, Safe & Well-Maintained National Highway Network” evaluated the 65-year-old, 1,380 mile interstate highway system.

The study found that 5% of the state’s interstate bridges are in poor or structurally deficient condition – this means that Missouri has the 10th highest rate of poorly maintained interstate bridges in the nation.

Additionally, 71% of Missouri’s bridges were rated in fair condition, while the remaining 25% are considered to be in good condition.

More information about the recent report can be found on TRIP’s website.
