CANTONMENT, Fla. — A semi log truck slammed into the Alabama & Gulf Coast Railway office building Tuesday morning, narrowly avoiding serious injuries and causing significant structural damage, authorities said.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. at 106 South Highway 29, near Muscogee Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). The southbound truck veered left through the intersection, crossed a grassy area and railroad tracks, before crashing into the railway office building. The truck came to a stop inside an empty breakroom.

According to NorthEscambia.com the building was unoccupied at the time, and the truck driver managed to exit the cab unharmed. During the incident, the truck also clipped a car that was turning through the intersection, ripping off its bumper. The driver of the car told reporters he was “lucky to be alive.”
