KANSAS CITY, Kan. — An 80-year-old woman was seriously injured Thursday afternoon after a semi-truck driver’s improper lane change caused a three-vehicle crash on Interstate 70, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol (KHP).

The crash occurred around 3:35 p.m. in the westbound lanes of I-70 near 18th Street, KHP said. Investigators determined that Moti Korde, 43, of Kansas City, Missouri, was driving a 2022 Kenworth semi-truck in the third lane when he made an improper lane change and struck the rear side of a 2015 Ford Fusion driven by Ann Wyatt, 80, of Kansas City, Kansas.

The impact caused Wyatt’s car to spin across traffic, where it was hit by a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Raymond Hunter, 60, of Tonganoxie.

According to KCTV5 News, emergency crews transported Wyatt to the University of Kansas Medical Center with suspected serious injuries. Hunter complained of pain but was not hospitalized, while Korde was uninjured, troopers said.

KHP noted that all drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The incident remains under investigation, according to KCTV5 News.
