Taunton man dies in crash with Amazon tractor-trailer on Route 24 in West Bridgewater

WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass. — A 33-year-old Taunton man was killed early Sunday morning after his car rear-ended a tractor-trailer on Route 24 South, according to Massachusetts State Police.

As reported by WCVB, the crash happened just before 6:30 a.m. near Exit 28 on the southbound side of the highway. Troopers said the car struck the back of the trailer, resulting in fatal injuries to the driver, identified as Carlos Monteiro.

Photos from the scene showed an Amazon-branded truck, though police have not confirmed the vehicle’s specific role in the collision. In a statement, Amazon said, “We’re saddened by this tragic incident and our thoughts are with all those involved. We are cooperating fully with authorities in their investigation.”

The truck driver was not injured. The right and middle southbound lanes were closed for approximately two hours as investigators documented the scene and cleared debris.
