Person injured after dump truck and tractor-trailer collide on I-64 in Goochland County
GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. — A person was injured early Thursday after a dump truck and a tractor-trailer collided on Interstate 64, causing both vehicles to strike embankments and trapping the drivers inside, according to Virginia State Police.

The crash occurred around 3:40 a.m. on November 20 along I-64 East near the Route 623 exit, according to WRIC. Investigators said the dump truck was stopped or disabled in the right lane when a tractor-trailer traveling in the same lane struck it from behind. Police have not yet confirmed whether the dump truck was moving at the time.

The impact sent the dump truck into the right embankment while the tractor-trailer veered into the left embankment. Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles, and a passenger suffered injuries. All were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

State Police reported a significant diesel fuel spill from the tractor-trailer, prompting a response from VDOT’s Traffic Incident Management (TRIP) team. The crash caused extensive lane closures as crews worked to contain the spill and clear the scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
