The fatal crash occurred just after 12 p.m. in the westbound lanes near mile marker 215, where investigators say the driver of a 2018 Toyota Corolla was entering I-40 West from the Briley Parkway exit ramp. Police determined that the Corolla failed to negotiate the curve, veered wide, and collided directly into the side of the semi-truck as it traveled through the interchange. The impact caused the tractor-trailer to roll over onto the interstate.
