AURORA, Colorado — Southbound E-470 was shut down early Saturday after a semi-truck hauling wind turbine drivetrain components split in half near Exit 20, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Troopers responded just before 5 a.m. to reports of a stalled truck on the exit ramp leading to the Interstate 70 interchange. When they arrived, crews discovered the issue was far more serious: the trailer had structurally failed, splitting apart after the massive windmill components shifted and broke free.

The truck came to rest just south of I-70, leaving the exit lane blocked. CSP confirmed no injuries were reported.

Emergency crews and heavy-equipment operators are working to safely remove the broken trailer and secure the load. Officials warn that lanes will remain closed for an extended period, with southbound drivers being detoured toward 6th Parkway.

The incident has created significant delays east of Denver, and motorists are urged to avoid the area until recovery operations are complete.
