Crash Involving Three Semis and Car Closes Northbound I-5 for Hours in Tumwater
OLYMPIA, Washington — A major early-morning crash involving three semi-trucks and a passenger car shut down all northbound lanes of Interstate 5 near U.S. 101 on Monday, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Troopers say the collision occurred around 5 a.m., when the vehicles struck a highway barrier, forcing the full closure of northbound I-5 and damaging a southbound barrier as well. At one point, both directions were affected, with the left southbound lane blocked due to a displaced barrier.

was diverted onto Deschutes Parkway S.W. while WSDOT crews and emergency responders worked to clear the wreckage and repair the damaged concrete barrier. WSP, WSDOT Tacoma, Incident Response Team units, commercial vehicle enforcement, and fire crews all responded to the scene.

WSP later confirmed that injuries were minor, and all northbound lanes reopened around 10:20 a.m., though delays continued as congestion cleared.
