The incident happened Thursday morning in Dyer County. The Dyer County Sheriff’s Office identified the driver as Sherry Darlene Lydon, 60, and called the case “a deeply disturbing situation.”
According to investigators, Lydon fatally shot her husband, William Lydon Jr., while he slept, then shot her 24-year-old son, seriously injuring him. After the shootings, authorities said she drove away from the scene and collided head-on with a flatbed semi-truck / 18-wheeler on Interstate 155 in what the sheriff’s office described as “an apparent attempt to commit suicide.”
