Semi-Truck Driver Severely Injured After Suspected Mechanical Failure Causes Rollover on Sunrise Road in Colleton County
COLLETON COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA — A man was severely injured last week after the semi-truck he was driving experienced a suspected mechanical failure, causing the truck to flip and roll onto its roof on a Colleton County road, according to Colleton County Fire-Rescue.

Colleton County Fire-Rescue said the driver was traveling on Sunrise Road when the suspected mechanical failure caused him to lose control near Yamacraw Drive at around 9:25 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 16.

Authorities said the vehicle flipped and rolled onto the roof. The driver was able to crawl out of the truck and was treated at the scene by responding firefighter paramedics, according to officials.

After being treated at the scene, the man was airlifted by medical helicopter to the trauma center at HCA Trident Hospital in North Charleston.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and State Transport Police are investigating the accident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
