BRAMPTON, ONTARIO — A Brampton man with a Canada-wide driving suspension was arrested after police said he stole a semi-truck, later pulled a stolen trailer with it, and crashed the tractor-trailer into a police cruiser when officers attempted to stop him, before fleeing on foot and being taken into custody.

Peel Regional Police said the truck was reported stolen from the area of East Drive and Torbram Road in Brampton on Sunday, Dec. 21. Investigators said the semi-truck was located the next day, Monday, attached to a trailer police said had been stolen from Halton Region over the weekend of Dec. 20.

Police said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the driver did not comply and the vehicle instead struck a police cruiser, causing what investigators described as extensive damage. Police said the tractor-trailer later became inoperable, and the driver fled on foot before being arrested. No injuries were reported.
