Oversized Load Partially Slides Off Semi, Temporarily Closing I-75 North On-Ramp in Macon
MACON, GEORGIA — The Interstate 75 Northbound on-ramp at Eisenhower Parkway was temporarily shut down Wednesday after an oversized load on a semi-truck’s flatbed partially slid off while the truck was navigating the curve, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. Officials later confirmed the ramp reopened.

According to the sheriff’s office, the call came into the Macon-Bibb Emergency 911 Center at 1:13 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Investigators said the semi commercial vehicle was traveling on the I-75 North on-ramp when, while inside the curve, the oversized load partially shifted and slid off the flatbed. Deputies said the driver immediately stopped.

Authorities reported no injuries and said no other vehicles were damaged. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Division responded to investigate, and the on-ramp was blocked at Eisenhower Parkway while crews worked to ensure the area was safe.

During the closure, the sheriff’s office urged motorists to avoid I-75 North and I-16 from Eisenhower Parkway, recommending drivers use the Pio Nono Avenue, Rocky Creek Road, and Mercer University Drive on-ramps for northbound travel until the scene was cleared.

In a 3:50 p.m. update, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said the I-75 Northbound on-ramp at Eisenhower Parkway had reopened.
