Pickup Driver Killed in Dense Fog After Crashing Under Turning Semi and Catching Fire
FRESNO COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — A man was killed Sunday morning after the pickup truck he was driving crashed into a semi-truck in dense fog near Highway 99 in Fresno County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. on Clovis Avenue near Highway 99, where CHP said visibility was low due to dense fog.
Investigators said the semi was traveling northbound on Clovis Avenue when the driver attempted to turn near Golden State Boulevard. At that time, CHP said a pickup truck traveling southbound slammed into the semi.

Authorities said the impact caused the pickup’s cab to become lodged beneath the semi’s trailer. The truck and trailer then caught fire, sending black smoke into the air.

CHP said the pickup driver died from his injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
