PALMER TOWNSHIP, PENNSYLVANIA — Two people were transported to the hospital early Thursday after an SUV and a tractor-trailer collided near the Route 33 overpass in Palmer Township, prompting a large emergency response and an extrication operation, according to county dispatchers, Palmer Municipal Fire Department, and Palmer Township police.

The crash was reported around 4:43 a.m. on Main Street near the Route 33 overpass, dispatchers said. After assessing the scene, Palmer Municipal Fire Department said the incident was upgraded to a motor vehicle accident with entrapment, and Forks Fire was requested to assist.

Fire officials said the position of the vehicle required a full roof removal and dash lift. Crews from Palmer Township and Forks Fire extricated the passenger and transferred care to EMS within 28 minutes, according to the fire department.

Palmer Township police said two people were taken to the hospital by ambulance. The extent of their injuries was not immediately released.

Police said the crash drew multiple responders, including law enforcement, fire, and EMS. The incident remains under investigation.
