CHP Stops Victorville Dump Truck Nearly 20,000 Pounds Overweight With Uncovered Aggregate Load
VICTORVILLE, Calif. — A dump truck hauling aggregate was stopped by California Highway Patrol troopers in the Victorville area on January 29, 2026, after officers spotted the truck traveling on the interstate with its load piled high and uncovered, CHP said.

According to CHP, the stop revealed an even bigger issue: the truck was almost 20,000 pounds overweight for its axle configuration. Troopers said the uncovered load posed a hazard to other drivers — including the risk of rocks striking windshields — while the excess weight can contribute to additional wear and damage to roadways.

“Commercial drivers are expected to know the rules of the road and requirements for the goods they are hauling,” CHP wrote, adding they were “glad to have removed this vehicle before damage occurred.”
