76,000 Pounds of Potatoes Spill Across I-15 After Two Semis and Car Collide North of Las Vegas
MESQUITE AREA, NEVADA — A collision involving two semi tractor-trailers and a passenger vehicle left an estimated 76,000 pounds of potatoes scattered across Interstate 15 early Friday morning, Jan. 30, briefly shutting down lanes as crews worked to clear the roadway.
Nevada State Police said the crash happened around 5:30 a.m. on I-15 south of Mesquite, roughly 100 miles north of Las Vegas. No fatalities were reported, and one person was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries, according to NSP spokesperson Trooper Shawn Haggstrom.

During the crash, one of the tractor-trailers spilled its load — about 76,000 pounds of potatoes — across the freeway. Cleanup crews responded and removed the debris, and by about 8 a.m. local time, the potatoes had been cleared and all lanes reopened.
