Semi Slams Into Barn in Chatham Township, Closing Chippewa Road as Power Goes Out and Gas Is Shut Off Until Truck Is Removed

CHATHAM TOWNSHIP, OHIO — A semi-truck struck a barn in Chatham Township Monday afternoon, triggering a road closure and utility disruptions in the area, according to the Medina County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies said Chippewa Road, east of Avon Lake Road, was closed after the crash. The sheriff’s office announced the closure at 1:40 p.m. and estimated the road could remain shut down for about four hours, urging drivers to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

As of 4 p.m., Chippewa Road was still closed. Officials also reported power outages in the area, and said natural gas service will be shut off until the semi-truck can be safely removed from the barn.
