Firefighters used hydraulic cutting tools to extricate the driver, who was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for evaluation. Andover Fire responded on mutual aid but later cleared the scene, while North Andover crews remained for recovery and environmental mitigation efforts.
Authorities confirmed the truck was actively leaking septic waste onto the roadway, prompting requests for assistance from the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection along with local health and environmental officials. Crews worked to contain runoff and began offloading the truck’s contents before it could be safely uprighted and removed.
A heavy-duty towing company assisted in lifting the truck back onto its wheels as cleanup operations continued for several hours, forcing an extended road closure in the area.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
