2026 Volvo Tractor-Trailer Hauling 43,000 Pounds of Laundry Detergent Overturns on I-95 After Swerving to Avoid Vehicle That Cut in Front of It
RICHMOND, Va. — A tractor-trailer overturned on Interstate 95 South in Richmond’s Southside early Thursday morning after the driver swerved to avoid a vehicle that cut in front of the truck, according to Virginia State Police.
Troopers responded at 6:45 a.m. on February 19, 2026, to a single-vehicle crash on I-95 South just north of the Chippenham Parkway exit, near the Chesterfield County line.
Preliminary investigation indicates a 2026 Volvo VNL tractor-trailer hauling approximately 43,000 pounds of laundry detergent and feminine hygiene products took evasive action to avoid another vehicle that cut in front of it. Authorities said there was no contact between the tractor-trailer and the other vehicle.
During the maneuver, the truck struck an exit sign and a guardrail before overturning and coming to rest along the right shoulder lane.
The tractor-trailer driver was not injured in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
