Police Issue Defective Equipment Citations After Cement Tanker Trailer Detaches From Tractor, Shutting Down Major Intersection in Lexington, South Carolina
LEXINGTON, SOUTH CAROLINA — A major intersection in Lexington was blocked for several hours after a cement tanker trailer detached from its tractor, closing multiple lanes and prompting citations for defective equipment.

The Lexington Police Department said the tractor-trailer came detached in the area of West Main Street (U.S. 1) and Columbia Avenue (U.S. 378). Drivers were urged to avoid the area while first responders awaited a heavy-duty tow service to remove the trailer from the roadway. The trailer was confirmed removed around 10:40 a.m., clearing the intersection.
State Transport Police issued several citations for defective equipment in connection with the incident. No injuries were reported.
