Illinois State Police (ISP) have arrested and charged a truck driver for an interstate shooting that took place last week.

Around 10:30 p.m. on May 18, ISP received a call about gunfire that struck the driver’s side of a semi truck traveling northbound on I-294 in Cook County, Illinois.

ISP said that the shooter fled the scene in a blue semi truck.

No injuries were reported.

Investigators checked I-Pass data and were able to identify a possible suspect vehicle matching the victim’s description pass through a nearby Toll Plaza moments after the shooting.

ISP located truck following additional investigation.

Around 11:30 a.m. on May 19, ISP troopers performed a traffic stop on the suspect truck for “multiple traffic offenses.”

The driver of the truck, 49 year old Kansas City resident Tyree J. Williams Sr, was placed in custody for questioning.

A probable cause search of the truck uncovered a loaded firearm and a spent 9mm casing inside the truck.

Troopers say that Williams provided a full confession.

Williams was booked into Cook County Jail and charged with a felony count of Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. He is being held on a $100,000, 10% to apply, bond.
