8 semi pileup on Emlenton High-Level Bridge shuts down I-80 in PA

Pileup crash on Emlenton bridge involving multiple semi trucks forces closure of Interstate 80 in Pennsylvania on Tuesday morning. 

 

The crash happened at around 12:30 a.m. on March 19th near Richland Township, Pennsylvania. 

According to CBS Pittsburgh, as many as eight tractor trailers and other vehicles were involved in the pileup crash on the westbound side of  Interstate 80 along the Emlenton High-Level Bridge, which is more than 270 feet high 

 

The incident forced the closure of the interstate between Exit 42 near the Emlenton Travel Plaza and Exit 53 near the Wolfs Camping Resort. 

It is not clear what caused the crash, or how many people were hurt in the accident. All lanes were still closed as of 9 a.m. CST, reported 511 PA.
