A covered bridge located in Jackson, New Hampshire, is closed due to damage caused when a semi truck driver attempted to cross.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on June 1, 2022, at the Jackson Covered Bridge (also known as the Honeymoon Covered Bridge) on Route 16A over the Ellis River.

Local outlet the Conway Daily Sun reports that the truck driver followed his GPS and got stuck about 10 feet in, then decided to back out, causing damage to the bridge.

No one was injured.

The driver, later identified as 37 year old Texas resident Brandon D. White, was reportedly cited for Bridge Overload Violation and Traffic Control Device.

The weight limit on the bridge is 3 tons. Signage located outside the bridge specifies passenger cars only.

Local officials say that the bridge is closed until further notice for repairs.

The Jackson Covered Bridge was built in 1876 and is a popular tourist attraction.
