POLICE: Juvenile injured in single rig, possibly impairment-related crash

A minor was injured in a crash involving a single semi truck in Oregon over the weekend. 

 

The crash happened on Friday, July 15th in Sweet Home, Oregon at about 6 p.m. 

According to ABC 9 News, a semi truck was traveling along Highway 20 near Sweet Home when it left the roadway and crashed down a hill. The truck eventually came to a rest near the Santiam River. 

The truck driver sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to a nearby hospital by ambulance. The passenger in the truck, a minor, was airlifted to a hospital in Portland with serious injuries. 

Oregon State Patrol says that the truck driver showed signs of impairment at the scene of the wreck. An investigation of the incident is ongoing. 

The semi truck was not recovered from the bottom of the hill until the following day.
