A multi million dollar settlement is in the works between P.A.M Transport Inc. and thousands of drivers who claim the company failed to pay them properly.

Arkansas Democrat Gazette reports that a brief filed in the United States District Court for the Western District of Arkansas earlier this month states that P.A.M Transport has agreed to pay out $4.75 million to 7,965 truckers.

In the class action suit, the truckers claim that the company failed to pay OTR employees minimum wage for all hours worked, made unlawful deductions from their paychecks through an “escrow” account; and applied “usurious” interest on employee advances – all actions that violate Arkansas and federal law, according to the filing.

As part of the settlement, P.A.M. has agreed to modify certain payroll and advance policies so that truckers won’t be subject to deductions for escrow amounts or be charged for requesting advances on wages in the future.
