116,000 Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks recalled for crash concerns

Truck maker PACCAR recently recalled more than 116,000 Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks over a gear shifter issue.

 

On March 14, 2024, PACCAR issued a recall for 116,343 trucks for safety issues related to “improperly crimped connectors in the gear shifter.”

“The right-hand gear shifter stalk connectors may have been improperly crimped, resulting in a loss of communication. A loss of communication between the gear shifter and the transmission may result in the vehicle becoming disabled after coming to a stop, increasing the risk of a crash,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recall documents state.

Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed by May 7, 2024.

Dealers will inspect and replace the gear shifter assembly for free if needed.
