Pennsylvania State Police (PSP) have released more information on an early morning truck stop shooting that left one truck driver dead.

PSP responded to a call at 2:48 a.m. on March 22 at a Love’s truck stop located off I-78 at Exit 40 in Berks County.

According to PSP, New Jersey-based truck driver James Alexander Hilton, 40, was helping another truck driver to park in the rear lot at the truck stop. This led to an altercation with the suspect, who was not the truck driver being assisted by Hilton.

During the argument, the suspect fired on Hilton.

Hilton died at the scene.

The suspect left the Love’s.

PSP put out a bulletin for the suspect truck.

A trooper spotted the suspect truck near the I-78 westbound exit 45 ramp in Lehigh County. A traffic stop was initiated and the suspect was taken into custody around 3:30 a.m.

PSP said that the suspect has not been charged as the investigation is ongoing. Troopers said that they will not release the suspect’s identity until charges are formally filed.
