Trucker beaten with hammer by two men in apparent road rage incident on Interstate 495 in Massachusetts on Monday afternoon 

 

The incident occurred on March 25th at about 2 p.m. on I-495 south in Bolton, Massachusetts. 

According to Boston 25 News, the truck driver pulled over into the breakdown lane during an apparent road rage incident. Two men in a Volkswagen GTI hatchback then pulled over and got out of the car before attacking the driver with a hammer. The two men then drove away. 

 

The 28-year-old truck driver sustained serious head injuries in the altercation. He was taken to Leominster Hospital. Details on his condition are not known, but his injuries were described as not life threatening. 

Police were able to locate the two suspects at the Marlborough Hospital, where one was being treated for injuries. The two men, 23-year-old Javier Gutierrez Vargas and 28-year-old Juan Marin, have both been charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and a single count of disorderly conduct.

A woman inside of the car at the time of the incident has not been charged. Vargas and Marin are expected to be arraigned sometime on Tuesday, March 26th.
