A pickup driver has been charged with multiple counts in connection with a crash that left a semi truck hanging off a bridge over the Ohio River earlier this month.

Pickup driver Trevor Branham, 33, has been charged with four counts of wanton endangerment and one count of operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license, according to WHAS11.

Branham was charged in connection with a dramatic crash that occurred on March 1 on the Clark Memorial Bridge over the Ohio River between Indiana and Louisville, Kentucky.

An electric vehicle (EV) previously stalled on the bridge.

According to reports, Branham was operating a Chevrolet C1500 southbound on the bridge at a high rate of speed, weaving in and out of traffic, when he struck the stalled EV.

The Chevrolet C1500 then entered the northbound lanes where it struck another car, then collided with a Sysco semi truck driven by Sydney Thomas, sending the truck crashing into support beam then through the bridge guardrail.

The semi truck came to a stop with the cab dangling 100 feet over the Ohio River for about 45 minutes before Thomas was rescued by first responders with the Louisville Fire Department.

Branham was hospitalized with injuries following the crash.

According to the arrest report, Branham “drove the vehicle under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, placing himself and other motors at risk for serious physical injury or death.”

Branham was released on a $20,000 bond.
