A big rig driver survived a major crash off of a California highway into the Feather River earlier this month.

The crash occurred around 3:20 p.m. on March 19, 2024, near Rodger’s Flat in Plumas County, California.

ABC 10 reports that a semi truck driver was traveling on Highway 70 unloaded after making a delivery when he veered onto a dirt shoulder, overcorrected, and the crashed off of the highway into the Feather River.

The truck driver was reportedly ejected into the river, but managed to hang onto the trailer until first responders arrived on scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the truck driver only sustained minor injuries.

“This serves as a powerful reminder from the CHP to prioritize safety: always wear your seatbelts and exercise caution when navigating speed and curves, particularly in mountainous regions,” CHP said.
