New Hampshire State Police (NHSP) arrested a truck driver after his semi truck got stuck in a muddy I-95 median early Friday morning.

At 1:40 a.m. on Friday, March 29, NHSP troopers discovered a semi truck lodged in mud in the center median of I-95 in North Hampton, New Hampshire.

Troopers determined that Maine-based truck driver Nathaniel Ray, 46, was operating a fully loaded tractor trailer south on I-95 when he lost control for unknown reasons. The truck exited the left side of the interstate and travelled into the median approximately 500 feet before it struck delineator posts and came to a stop after becoming stuck in deep mud.

Troopers say that the crash sent a substantial amount of debris into the lanes of I-95.

NHSP said that Ray displayed signs of impairment following the crash.

Ray was initially arrested for driving under the influence. He was later charged with felony reckless conduct, aggravated driving under the influence and criminal mischief following investigation.

A motor carrier inspection was conducted after the crash. Ray was cited with multiple commercial motor vehicle violations.

NHSP said that Ray was initially released on his own recognizance after booking and processing, but “based on his level of impairment, Ray was temporarily held in protective custody at the Rockingham County House of Corrections.”
