On Monday night, extreme weather triggered a multiple vehicle crash that left three people injured near Waxahachie, Texas.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a suspected tornado crossed I-35E and Johnston Road late Monday night, causing a crash involving three 18 wheelers.

According to reports, two southbound trucks were pushed into a center divider while a third northbound truck crashed off the interstate. At least one of the trucks overturned and spilled its load. A van crashed into the southbound trucks but the driver was able to regain control and pull off on the shoulder.

All three truck drivers involved in the crash were injured and taken to the hospital, one in serious condition. Some outlets have reported a “possible fatality.”

The interstate was closed for about 5 hours as crews worked to rescue trapped drivers and clean up the wreckage. All lanes reopened by 3 a.m. on Tuesday.
