More than 1,000 pounds of meth was discovered hidden amongst a shipment of watermelons in San Diego last week.

The contraband was discovered at the Otay Mesa commercial inspection facility near San Diego, California.

According to ABC 7 News, the truck was passing through the checkpoint when it was referred to secondary inspection. Once there, a K9 alerted to the possible presence of contraband inside of the shipment, prompting agents to investigate further.

Officers then searched the truck and discovered 193 wrapped plastic containers containing suspected methamphetamine hidden within the watermelon.

The uncovered narcotics have an estimated street value of $2.5 million and weighed in at more than 1,100 pounds.

The 47-year-old Mexican national truck driver was arrested for attempted smuggling of narcotics.
