Trucker responsible for striking a bridge so hard it shifted had expired license

The truck driver involved in an accident that shifted an entire overpass 6 feet has been officially cited. 

The accident happened last week in Treutlen County, Georgia. 

According to ABC 4 News, 40-year-old trucker Cecil Reeves has received a citation  under Georgia’s law pertaining to the expiration and renewal of driving licenses, 40-5-32.

 

GSP has confirmed that Reeves was driving with an expired license at the time of the crash. The truck involved in the wreck belongs to a company based in Elmore, Alabama called Brown’s Clearing, Incorporated.

Since the wreck, the damaged bridge has been torn down and the affected portion of Interstate 16 has been reopened. There are plans to rebuild and replace the bridge.
