The shooting occurred at 7:28 p.m. on February 25 at mile marker 4 on Highway 6, near Montgomery Pass, according to the Mineral County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

Authorities say the truck driver was outside his semi-truck, possibly inspecting a breakdown, when an unknown vehicle pulled up. Someone inside the vehicle fired approximately five rounds, striking both the truck and the driver.

According to a California Highway Patrol report, after being shot, the truck driver managed to walk to another parked semi for help. The suspect vehicle did a U-turn and briefly approached the two truckers before fleeing the scene.

The truck driver sustained a leg injury and was transported to a hospital in Bishop, California.

Suspect Still at Large

  • No arrests have been made.
  • There is no available description of the suspect or the suspect vehicle.
  • Authorities urge anyone with information to contact MCSO at 775-945-2434.

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement searches for the shooter.
